I interpret the verse as saying that if the acquisition of wealth or material possessions represents God's blessing of a person (implying that they are obtained in an honest, godly manner, or as a result of events that have been sanctioned by God), they will not then bring with them the problems, cares, and concerns that sometimes accompany riches (especially if they are ill-gotten), such as legal or criminal problems or consequences, or disputes over ownership or inheritance of the assets).
"The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it." KJV "The blessing from the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it." NET BIBLE The blessing of the Lord has surely made me rich! BUT THIS WAS NOT WITHOUT THIS BEING AT SOMEONE ELSE'S EXPENSE! I just shared this with Chris @ Walgreens who said, "I hope not!" "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich" (KJV). CEV "You know that our Lord Jesus Christ was kind enough to give up all his riches and become poor, so that you could become richly blessed." (2 Corinthians 8:9) Becoming poor implies, not only a humble birth and "no place to lay His head" throughout His life, but also His death on the cross as a "criminal". (Paying our sin debt). In the Bible, sin is a debt that we owe to God: "The wages of sin is death." Sin leaves us bankrupt before God. But Jesus took all our debt upon Himself, becoming so poor for those 6 hours on the cross and for the 3 days He was dead. But praise God He rose, conquering death for Himself and for all who believe/trust Him for this generous payment on their behalf. When Jesus died on the cross, He said, "It is finished!" He was buying a free ticket to heaven for us at that moment. "It is finished" is 3 words in English, but it is only 1 word in the document which records Jesus' word(s) in Greek. The 1 word is tetelestai, a word meaning, "PAID IN FULL." It is a commercial term, discovered by archaeologists. He was buying a free ticket for us to go to heaven, but we must accept it as a gift from Him. Or else it does us no good. Will you accept His free ticket to heaven that He is offering you? If you do this, then you will be rich beyond your wildest imagination!
