Why did Nicodemus go to see Jesus in the night?

NKJV - 1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.

In my opinion, Nicodemus (who was a member of the Pharisees) went to Jesus by night for reasons of secrecy -- in order to avoid having others (especially other Pharisees, who generally opposed Jesus) know about the visit, and to avoid making public his own personal opinion, based on the miracles that Jesus was performing, that (as Nicodemus stated to Jesus in John 3:2) Jesus was a teacher who had been sent by God.
