How do you deal with lack of love in a family?

I got saved at 17 and was the only believer in my family. It was a typical African family. My mother was abused, and only stayed because of us. Getting saved also meant I was distant from my parents; my mother in particular fiercely disapproved of it, though she is Catholic. I went to study in a foreign country, and that has made us even more distant. But I do feel there is a void inside me because of this. Now that I am grown up I am worried this may end up affecting me if I get married. How do I navigate this situation?
