Yes, Plate Tectonics (PT) is an evolutionary paradigm invented to try to explain the proposed fit of the continents and the sedimentary rocks and fossils contained therein on the continents. Various mechanisms have been proposed by geologists, but no universal agreement exists as to what really works.
Dr. Walt Brown (a Christian) has extensively developed a theory to replace PT and it is called the"Hydroplate Theory" (HPT). One can read it in his book "In the Beginning, Compelling Evidence for Creation and the Flood", on-line at www.creationscience.com. Go to Part Two to delve directly into the HPT
The HPT is well supported by the Bible and is consistent with the description of the Flood as given in Genesis 7, 8, and 9. Dr. Brown answers many questions in his FAQ chapter at the end of the book. His writing style is excellent and easily understandable for the average layman. It is well researched and well documented with references at the end of each chapter. He references one recent book, "Tectonics, Globaloney" by N. Christian Smoot, a Naval Researcher who concludes that Plate Tectonics doesn't work and should be discarded by the geological community.
