Good question. The godly run to the Lord when in trouble. He is a safe place. He provides safety. It is like the person who ACCIDENTALLY did something wrong in the Old Testament. He could RUN to one of the 6 cities of refuge and be safe. When we are faced with the enemies that tempt us, taunt us, or attack us, we can "run to" or "trust" the Lord. Running to God is a symbol called a metaphor, which in this case means trust or trusting. The strong and high tower can put us above the arrows of temptation flying below. The popular contemporary song is: "Blessed be the name of the Lord (A Strong Tower)" Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be the name of the Lord the Most High Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be the name of the Lord the Most High The name of the Lord is a strong tower The righteous run into it and they are saved The name of the Lord is a strong tower The righteous run into it and they are saved. And this is true, too. To become "righteous" in God's eyes, you need the righteousness of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30). The only way that you can get it is to have it imputed to you. That happens when you repent of your sins and trust Jesus Christ's death on the cross as the payment of the death penalty for your sins (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Then you can run to the Lord as if He was a safe, strong tower when danger comes. When your physical death finally comes, you will be safe from hell (eternal doom). You will be saved!
