I would say that, although it is commendable to be consistent and regular in prayer, the more that one repeatedly prays the same prayer or a formulaic prayer wording over and over (rather than speaking spontaneously and meaningfully from one's heart), or always prays at a fixed time or place (rather than as individual occasions or thoughts -- whenever they might occur -- call for), then the more potential there would be for one's mind to be diverted while praying, detracting from both the ability to be aware of issues that should be the subject of one's prayers, as well as ways in which God might be responding to one's prayer requests.
