What does the Bible say if you hurt a loved one by telling the truth to the innocent?

My friend was mentioning on how toxic her lover was and all these horrible things, but her lover messaged me to verify what my friend had been saying about him. He's been publicly shamed due to the things my friend is saying but he still continues saying that he is innocent and has not done those things. I wanted to confirm if anything she said was true, he pulled out evidence that everything she was saying was false. Now my friend is angry and has blocked me from telling him the things she has been saying. But even tho she is my friend I can't just be used for her to talk badly about him and it's wrong to just assume that she is right, I believe it is good to see both sides of the story. I love her but I don't know if I should feel bad or in the right.

It's better to take hold of a mad dog by the ears than to take part in someone else's argument.
