It is possible that what is happening in the Middle East today is leading to the beginning of Israel's prophetic final 7 years. What is certain is that there will not be peace in that area until "that Wicked" brings in his false peace to the world. There have been 483 completed prophetic years of the 490 (seventy weeks) that were shown to Daniel for Israel (Dan 9:24-27). (1 week being equivalent to 7 years). The first 483 years of this period began at the command of Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem up to the very day that Jesus Christ rode into the city (Matt 21:8-11). The leading up to of the remaining 7 years (Daniel's seventieth week) has been and is the debate of past and current world events. Ultimately, it could be argued that ALL events are leading to the final 7 year period that is outlined in Daniel 9:27, and we will most likely not know which events are really 'the final straw', but where do we as believers fit in to any future prophetic times of Israel? There have been nearly 2,000 years of un-prophecied time known as the dispensation of God's grace that we are currently in. The details of this age of God's grace were given to and through the apostle Paul for all post-cross believers. One of the hidden truths that we learn from Paul is that God is now calling out a group of believers who are filling up what is defined by Paul as the church, the body of Christ. Eph 3:2 "If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:" Col 1:24 "Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:" This current non-foretold age (Rom 16:25) is separating Israel's expired 483 prophetic years from their eventual 7 year prophetic period that commonly goes by the term 'the tribulation'. It is at the beginning of the tribulation that the identity of "that Wicked" will be revealed (2 Thes 2:8). The book of Revelation gives more detail about what will transpire during that final 7 year period, but it is basically the culmination of Satan's reign on earth meeting God's wrath. It is important for members of the church, the body of Christ to realize that because we are not appointed to God's wrath, we will most likely and thankfully not be here for any part of Israel's final prophetic 7 year period: 1 Thes 4:16-18 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thes 5:4-11 "But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do."
I would add that whether current events fulfill Psalm 83 depends on its outcome. If the result of the war is that Israel controls more land, then this is likely. We can only speculate, but such an increase of land, which wipes out all Israel's immediate and hostile neighbors, creates the "vacuum" into which Gog (Ezekiel 38) leads a coalition to plunder Israel who will have just recovered from war and has a sense of peace as a result.
Genesis 6:3: And the Lord said, "My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." From the beginning of the creation of heaven and the earth, mankind began to live a sinful life, for the wickedness of man was great and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually. (Gen 6:5) But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, who begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth when he was five hundred years old. All the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years and he died but the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man” and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. Yet Noah lived after he begat his children for another 450 years. Why did the Lord give the Israelites seven sabbaths of years and then cause the trumpets of the jubilee year of celebration on the day of atonement which is the fiftieth year? The jubilee years are 50 x 120 years, that men kind shall live, today from the time after the floods is around 6000 years, around 4000 years before the coming of our Lord Jesus and the current year we are in is 2023. Jesus began his ministry at the age of 30 and was crucified after three years on the cross. The events of today are the beginning of the old times as the Lord had spoken to the prophets of Israel when Gog shall come with other nations against the land of Israel. (Ezekiel 38) And during this time the rapture of the church as written in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and then the 7 years of tribulation that will start. 1) Ezekiel 38 nations that shall come against the land of Israel. 2) During a short period of time there will be a war and then a peace treaty shall be made. 3) The antichrist will be the one who will come and make the peace. 4) During this peace treaty he will allow them to build the temple.
The Hamas war in Israel is another stepping stone toward such chaos among Israel's enemies and Israel itself that some "binding" treaty will be devised to bring peace. A 7-year period will apparently test the new peace and authority is given to police the treaty. Some compromising apparently allows Israel to restart their religious sacrifices, etc. After 3-1/2 years the treaty is terminated but not the corrupt policing authority.(Daniel 9:27). This ushers in the great tribulation period (Matt.24:15-21) against Israel and God's people. (Daniel 12). Daniel does not fully understand because he knows nothing about the intervening church period. Jesus further explains in Mt.24, Mk.13, Lk.21.
