Briefly expressed, I would say that Paul's letter to the church at Philippi (which he himself had played a part in establishing) centered around three main themes which would still be applicable guidance for Christians even today. First, the lives of Christians should be centered on Christ. They should be studying His life as recorded in the gospels, and striving to emulate the humility, obedience, and love that He displayed, and doing so at ALL times, regardless of external circumstances (good or bad, celebration or hardship). The product of following this guidance will be the true joy that will produce restoration and renewal in the lives of others with whom we associate or to whom we witness. Finally, groups of believers should be united in the fact of all being God's children. Although we are each unique on an individual level, we can come together as a community to support each other and to help each other find the true peace of God that (as noted in Philippians 4:7) passes all understanding.
