How does knowing that God planned our redemption before creation encourage us in our pursuit of holiness? How does placing our faith and hope in God empower us to live differently?

Read 1 Peter 1:20-21. Jesus was chosen before the foundation of the world but revealed for our sake.

20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

1 Peter 1:13 - 25

NLT - 13 So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

Faith and hope empower us to live differently.

Placing our faith and hope in God transforms the way we live because it shifts our perspective from the temporary to the eternal.

Colossians 3:1-2 – “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

Faith in God helps us live differently by focusing on eternal realities, not worldly distractions.
1 John 3:2-3 – “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." (verse 2, NASB)

"And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." (verse 3, KJV)

"And everyone who has this
hope set on Him purifies himself,
just as He is pure." (NASB)

Our hope as believers in Christ’s return motivates us to purify our lives in anticipation of being with Him.

Since God planned our redemption before creation, we can live with confidence, knowing that His purposes for us will not fail. Our faith and hope in Him give us the strength to resist sin and pursue holiness, not out of fear, but out of gratitude for His eternal love and grace.
