Hebrews 2:3-15
Hebrews 2:1 - 18
AMP - 1 SINCE ALL this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away. 2 For if the message given through angels [the Law spoken by them to Moses] was authentic and proved sure, and every violation and disobedience received an appropriate (just and adequate) penalty.

Dear Anonymous, the salvation is 'so great' because Jesus Christ took on the sins of the entire world, and shed his life's blood, so that we could receive the Father's forgiveness for our sins. In the beginning of the chapter, the foundational truths are revealed in verses 1-3, where the writer is speaking about the transgressors of the law and how every act of disobedience received a just recompense of reward. The Hebrews were being told not to neglect God's salvation by letting the things that they were hearing about Jesus' death and resurrection, and being saved by God's grace, slip by drifting away. This is a warning that we all must take heed to, because the writer's point is: how can we escape the judgment of God if we neglect God's salvation through Jesus Christ? Please take note of what is written in 1Thessalonians 1:10b. God's salvation is so great for these reasons: Jesus suffered death for us. He tasted death for everyone. Jesus, through his suffering, became a perfect leader and fit to bring us into our salvation. Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father, so he is not ashamed to call us his brothers and sisters. Jesus became flesh and blood, because only as a human could he die, and by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. Jesus is our merciful and faithful High Priest before God, and is the one who offered himself as a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Jesus, since he has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to keep us when we are being tested.
