As noted in the cited passage, God has made it possible for humans to be delivered from the "domain of darkness", which is the state of unrepentant sin and separation from God that exists unless and until individuals realize their need for salvation, and, through the working of the Holy Spirit, place their faith in Christ's atoning death and resurrection for eternal life in God's presence.

The Father delivered you when you believed the gospel. For Paul's original readers, it was when they first heard and accepted the message. For any Christian today, it is the day of their own salvation. For me it was Sunday afternoon, April 26, 1964. (last day of these special meetings, April 24-26, 1964). My Gram took my sister and me to this Billy Graham Crusade in Arizona. Billy Graham’s first meetings in Arizona took place at Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe just outside of Phoenix. More than 104,000 attended the event, including hundreds of people from the Navajo tribe and thousands of Spanish-speaking people (who were able to listen to the simultaneously translated messages). More than 4,000 responded to the Gospel during the Crusade, I being one of them.
