What is the importance of "enter in" in Psalm 100?

ESV: "4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his name."

The phrase "enter into his gates with thanksgiving" in Psalm 100:4 represents a deliberate, active approach to worshipping God, highlighting that gratitude is the primary "key" or "access point" into God's presence. It signifies moving from the outside world into a close relationship with God, shifting focus from personal circumstances to His character.

Entering with thanksgiving is a conscious act of recognising what God has done, which refocuses the heart from life's challenges to God's faithfulness and goodness.

It encourages bringing honest, heartfelt gratitude before God rather than just going through the motions of worship.

The overall message of Psalm 100 is that thankfulness and praise are essential for experiencing the fullness of God's presence, as they reorder priorities and affirm His goodness.

Psalm 100 ESV: "Make a joyful noise unto Jehovah, all ye lands. 2 Serve Jehovah with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that Jehovah, he is God: It is he that hath made us, and we are his; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his name. 5 For Jehovah is good; his lovingkindness endureth for ever, And his faithfulness unto all generations."

His Creatorship and grand qualities provide us with the incentive to enter into his presence with praise and thanksgiving. We are moved to bless his name, to speak well of Jehovah God. Further, we can always rely on his lovingkindness, or compassionate regard, for "Generation after generation."

Jehovah is faithful, unswerving in showing love to those doing his will, that is why the Psalmist says 'enter into his presence' - what a privilege to do so.

I believe the importance of "enter in" is speaking about how to come into the presence of God.

It is important because we are entering into the presence of the King of kings.

The psalmist also tells us how to enter into His presence with praise, worship, and with singing.

No one ever enters the presence of a king without bringing gifts or without honoring him first.

I believe how we enter is most important!
