What does "all things were created through him and for him" mean?

Especially Colossians 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through him and for him.

I think with Jesus in mind as present at the creation (In the beginning was the word jn 1:1), Paul is inspired by the Holy Spirit to write about Jesus’ presence at creation, the extent of the creation, and it was created to glorify him.
