What are some lies or messages today that sound convincing but pull people away from Christ?

Verse 4 of Colossians 2 warns about being deceived by plausible arguments.

Colossians 2:4 "I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments."

Colossians 1:24 - 2:5

ESV - 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church. 25 Of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known.

Your question: What are some lies or messages today that sound convincing but pull people away from Christ?

It’s not about lying per se, but rather about concealing the truth from you.

They possess the keys to righteousness but refuse to let anyone enter. By the keys, I mean they possess the knowledge of the truth but choose to keep it hidden from you. Alternatively, they may not have fully comprehended the teachings or sermons they preach.

I would like to give you one example of preaching or teaching without revealing the truth. Many have read John 3:16, but how many have truly explained its meaning? Without understanding, you are left with only words.
Let’s read John 3:16, and then I’ll show you the understanding of it through scripture.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Now let’s break this scripture down and see what it truly means.

“Whosoever believes in him", meaning the Son, our Lord and Saviour. When men teach that to believe in Christ is just an acknowledgment of him, they are teaching a lie. Believing in Christ is placing your trust in him. For it is written:

Matthew 12:21: “And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.”

To believe in Christ is to place your trust in him. As to the rest of John 3:16, “Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
This is what this means: Whosoever puts their trust in Christ shall not perish, but have eternal life.
