More and more the SBC is becoming Calvin churches rather than biblical churches. A great percentage of SBC church pastors are Calvinist's. They are right that once we have trusted Jesus as our savior we are given eternal life. But, the doctrine that God only chooses some and has condemned the rest to hell is not supported by scripture.

First Timothy 2:4 Who wills that all would be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. And First John 2:2 That Christ died for the sins of the whole world.

Calvinists believe people are regenerated by the Holy Spirit before they believe. Ephesians 1:13 says not. In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.

We are not regenerated by the Holy Spirit until we believe the gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again on the third day, and it is totally by faith and not by works. Romans 11:6 It is all grace, and not works.
