The question arises: What time period is Isaiah chapter 10 referring to? Has this prophecy been fulfilled? The prophets wrote their messages as they were inspired by the Lord. 2 Peter 2:20: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. All scriptures write three themes. The past, present, and future things. As with Isaiah, he wrote of things to the character of the unrighteous. He said the unrighteous would prey on the widows and orphans. Isaiah 10:1: Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! Let’s see how the Apostle took these same words and reversed them to define pure religion for the righteous: James 1:27: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. As to your question, Isaiah is revealing the truth that applied to the unrighteous in his day. This has been a practice of the unrighteous throughout the ages, even today. The words in Isaiah also apply to what the unrighteous do today. The apostle said you must rightly divide the word of God to understand what it is referring to. 2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Isaiah wrote things down, showing us what was, is, and even what is happening today.
