Total quite time means no noise distractions, away from everything and everyone, surrender to God, no radio phones, only where God can reach you. Turn yourself off and be ready to receive.

What is a quiet time? If we're being honest, the term "quiet time" isn't actually found anywhere in the Bible. It's a phrase Christians use to describe setting aside time to be alone with God. At its core, a quiet time is simply about slowing down long enough to spend time with Him through Scripture, prayer, and reflection. I think sometimes people hear the phrase and imagine a perfect morning routine—coffee in hand, Bible open, journal ready, everything peaceful and organised. But real life is rarely like that. A quiet time is less about creating the perfect spiritual moment and more about intentionally turning your attention toward God, even in the middle of a busy life. When you look through Scripture, you see this pattern again and again. Jesus often stepped away from the crowds to pray. In Mark 1:35, He got up early and went to a solitary place to spend time with the Father. That always stands out to me. If Jesus needed those moments away from the noise and demands around Him, then it's no surprise that we need them too. A quiet time usually includes reading the Bible, but it is not a race to get through chapters. Sometimes one verse can stay with you all day. Sometimes you read a passage, and it challenges you, comforts you, or reminds you of something you've forgotten. The goal isn't to get through the text as quickly as possible. The goal is to let God's Word get through to us. Prayer is another part of it. Not fancy prayer. Not trying to sound spiritual, but talking honestly with God. Some days that might be thanksgiving. Other days it might be frustration, confusion, or asking for help. The Psalms are full of real conversations with God, and that's encouraging because they remind us that we don't have to pretend when we come to Him. Stillness is also important. Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God." We live in a constantly noisy world. Phones buzz, schedules fill up, and our minds jump from one thing to another. A quiet time creates space to pause and remember who God is. It helps us refocus when life starts pulling us in a hundred different directions. What I've found is that quiet times are not always dramatic. Sometimes they feel powerful and encouraging. Other times they can feel quite ordinary. But that doesn't mean nothing is happening. Just like any relationship grows through regular time together, our walk with God deepens through consistent moments spent with Him. Scripturally, a quiet time is about drawing near to God. It's not a box to tick or a spiritual performance to maintain. It's making room in our day to read His Word, pray, listen, reflect, and be with Him. In many ways, it's less about having a perfect routine and more about having a heart that keeps coming back to God. Summary Scripturally, a quiet time often includes several simple elements: Reading God's Word. Not racing through chapters, but letting Scripture speak. Asking, "What does this show me about God? What does this reveal about my heart?" Prayer. Honest conversation with God. Gratitude, confession, questions, worries, hopes—real words rather than polished speeches. Meditation. Not emptying the mind, but filling it with God's truth, letting it linger, thinking deeply, and letting the Word settle instead of immediately moving on. Listening. Not necessarily expecting an audible voice, but allowing space for conviction, encouragement, guidance, and reflection through Scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit.
