It is hard for me to understand how learned folk will try and read something into the Bible to please science. Genesis is so crystal clear that God created in 6 earth days. He confirmed this in Exodus 20 when He said we need to work 6 days and rest on the seventh like he did during creation week.

It is because some of our church fathers in the 19th century made some concessions toward evolutionary thinking that our education system progressive went from being Christian to totally be secular humanism.

Folks, we need to believe in the word of God without any concessions because it is absolute truth. Science changes but Holy Scripture never will. Tinkering with the Bible results in liberal Christianity and from there it is a slippery slope to atheism. If you cant believe the first chapter of Genesis then why believe the rest re salvation/ redemption? Genesis is the foundation to the rest of the bible story so don't capitulate on it one iota.
