My problem with your response is that as an Old Earth advocate I DON'T ascribe to any of the tenets to what you say about those who hold to the so called Progressive Creationism. I affirm the total inerrancy of God's Word but believe there are wonderful mysteries we won't fully understand until with are present with The Lord. Paul says just that in I Cor. 13:12. I also am totally open to God having created our vast universe in 6 24 hour days, because He is sovereign and omnipotent. But all of this has nothing to do with the saving grace of God.
Dave, your last comment that "But all of this has nothing to do with the saving grace of God' I'm afraid is totally inaccurate. By positing an old earth, you are by implication saying that Paul lied when he said 'That by sin came death', not to mention implying that the very Creator of the universe was wrong when he said[Mat 19:4 ESV] 4 He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female," leaving no room for billions of years before man was created. So this subject has direct implications on the saving grace of God, because if we cannot trust him in what he has said about things we can test, then how can we trust him on things he has said about what we cannot test - like salvation by grace through faith? Please think hard before ceding biblical truth to fallible man's opinions! Blessings to you brother.
