Along with my free logos package --Logos Bible Software-- (which is available to all with a computer) is included Wikipedia. It has:

Decision theology is the belief by some fundamentalist and evangelical sects of Christianity that individuals must make a conscious decision to "accept" and follow Christ (be "born again"). Some Christian denominations object to the "decision theology" theory as contradicting the monergism of orthodox historic Protestantism. Many fundamentalists and evangelicals expect individuals to make a dramatic decision to commit themselves to Jesus Christ. Lutherans and Reformed Christians reject the "decision theology" of some modern evangelicals, believing that faith receives the gift of salvation rather than causes salvation.

We do have to make a decision. We have to believe what Jesus said is true. The bible says we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 Romans 3:9-10.

The gospel says Jesus died to pay the sin debt of everyone in the world. But, only those who believe He did it for them are saved.

We have to repent of trying to get to heaven any other way than by faith alone apart from works. We have to accept His free gift by faith alone.

The gift of God is eternal life. But we have to accept the gift to be saved. It can not be saved by works. You can not save yourself by anything we do or do not do. We can only be saved by what Jesus did plus nothing. We can not add to the gospel, or take anything away from the gospel.

The gospel is First Corinthians 15:1-4. We have to accept that gospel as true. We have to know We are a sinner on our way to hell, but Jesus paid our debt and set us free. No longer condemned. John 3:18

We do not get the seal of the Holy Spirit until we believe the gospel of our own free will. Jesus says, without faith it is impossible to please Him

John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth, trust in, should have everlasting life and I will raise him up on the last day.

Romans 11:29 For the GIFTS, eternal life, and the calling of God, John 12:32 are without repentance. Irrevocable can not be changed back.

When do we get the seal of the Holy Spirit? When we believe the gospel that our sin debt, past, present, and future sins are all paid in full and we can no longer be condemned.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, First Corinthians 15:1-4, in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise.

Salvation was accomplished by Jesus alone for our benefit, by Him dying on the cross and being resurrected to new life. The work of salvation accomplished by Jesus alone then became the gift of salvation. To attain a gift, I have to receive it, as it remains in the hands of the gift giver until I accept it.
So, we have no participation in the work of salvation, but we do have the response of receiving the gift of salvation. The miraculous work of salvation is a divine work, accomplished by God the Father through His only begotten Son, Jesus.
