The “last Adam” is Christ. Because Christ rose from the dead, he is a Spirit who gives life. (see also Romans 8:2 and The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus - W. A. Criswell Sermon...) Jesus is the fountain/source of the spiritual life which will result in our resurrection. Christ’s new glorified human body now is adapted to His new glorified life—just as Adam’s human body was adequate for his natural life. When we’re resurrected, God will give us a new, transformed, eternal body (glorified body) adequate for our new eternal life. I praise God for this glorious hope, a sure inheritance!
