It is known that since the fall of Adam, man wrestles with a vacuum that only God can fill. Man has thus sought his fill in fleeting pleasures such as power, fame, fortune, friendships etc. Thanks be to God then that when one is saved through Christ Jesus - called out of darkness into His marvelous light even to be numbered among the saints - we ought to enjoy Him further, moment by moment, day by day into eternity (1 Peter 2:9-10). Daily devotion then is but a spiritual discipline that sustains the pilgrim against the draw and folly of this present world.
