All that God deemed essential knowledge for His children is found in His Word-the Bible. Beyond that, all truth is God's. God has, however, revealed His truth to all humans in the things created (R...

In Job 28:12-15 we hear God saying through Job: "But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell? No mortal comprehends its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living [it is not the wisdom of this world]. The deep says 'It is not in me'; the sea says 'it is not with me.' It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be weighed out in silver. Then in verse 23 we read "God understands the way to it and he alone knows where its dwells," The answer is verse 27-29 "then he [God] looked at wisdom and appraised it; he confirmed it and tested it. And he said to the human race, "The FEAR of the LORD - that is wisdom, and to SHUN EVIL is understanding.

So how do we Fear the Lord, that is, have a reverential AWE and RESPECT for who God is and what he has done for us. I have discovered 5 ways to do this: 1) diligently read, study, meditate and memorise the scriptures (with the same effort and determination as mining for the finest gold and the most precious jewels) to find God's truth and allow the Holy Spirit every day to apply that truth to my daily life. 2) enter the throne room of God every day to have intimate personal conversations with my creator about everything in my life, trusting the Holy Spirit to bring up topics I hadn't even thought about. 3) Spontaneously bursting into praise every day for who God is- his nature and character, and for his marvellous creation. Spontaneously bursting into thanksgiving for what God has done in my life (salvation, new birth, new future) and for his answers to my prayers for others whom I love. 4) Make every effort to love the Body of Christ (every person who claims Christ must be treated as my brother and sister) and build intimate friendships and fellowship with other believers. 5) Walk with the Holy Spirit to discover where God is calling me to serve and be alert for every opportunity to use my spiritual gifts to bless others.

When I follow the model that Jesus gave for bringing the kingdom of God to the earth (Matt 5:7-10) I am demonstrating ultimate awe and respect for God. 1) Be merciful (deliver God's blessings) to everyone I meet, 2) Reveal the purity and holiness of Christ's character in me every day so people can see and find God. 3) Help everyone I know to make peace with God (receive his salvation) and make peace with each other. 4) Take my stand every day for what is just and right to advance the cause of God's goodness in the world and push back the prresence of evil and wickedness.

So how do we "SHUN EVIL" in our lives. I have discovered the following ways: 1) Confess my sins to God and anyone else I have sinned against as soon as the Holy Spirit brings them to my attention, ask God to forgive my sins for Jesus sake, ask God to cleanse me so i don't fall for these temptations again, ask God to help me overcome these temptations in the future by turning away from every thought, feeling, word and deed that is not God's will for my life. 2) Crucify the desires of my flesh every day by replacing evil and wicked deeds with good and Godly deeds. I choose as an act of the will to "Do all the GOOD I can, to all the PEOPLE I can, in all the WAYS I can, for all the TIME I can.

Job beautifully portrays this life of doing good and the blessings it bestows in the entire chapter of Job 29. I will conclude with a few of Job's words. V11 whoever heard me spoke well of me, those who saw me commended me, v12 I rescued the poor who cried for help and the fatherless who had none to assist them, v13 The one who was dying blessed me, I made the widow's heart sing, v14 I put on righteousness as my clothing, justice was my robe and turban, v15 I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame, v16 i was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the stranger, v17 I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth. V21 people listened to me expectantly, waiting in silence for my counsel, v24 When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it.
