In what ways, when, what does he teach us?
1 John 2:27
NLT - 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true - it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

Sometimes I think of scripture as a candle and the Spirit the flame. Together, they produce light. I would only add that the illumination (teaching) of scripture that we receive from the Spirit is not the same thing as the information we might gather from it through any sort of Bible study method. The reason I say this, is because anyone--Christian or otherwise--can carefully study a biblical passage using only rational and analytical skills and draw the same conclusions. Of course, their reaction to the truth will be different from that of the believer (1 Cor. 1:18). What the Spirit has to teach us through scripture, however, cannot be received by the "natural" person, because "they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor. 2:14). We know that the "inspiration of the Scriptures" means that God communicated his truth to human writers through his Spirit. What we tend to forget is that inspiration also refers to the work of the Spirit when we are reading the Scriptures. Therefore, sitting with the Scriptures simply listening to the Spirit speak to us through them is as important as rigorous study of them. One other thought. Even books that are supposed to help us "know God," usually turn out to be lessons in theology, so that we wind up knowing "about" God. We need to remember Paul's prayer for the Ephesians, that they would receive "the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him" or to know him (Ep. 1:17). There is something about our direct experience of, and relationship to God that can occur only as the Spirit works it into us (Ro. 8:9-14). That is the knowledge we need most for him to teach us, not knowledge about God, but knowing God--and no one else can do this for us.
The Holy Spirit is in deed our teacher. How does the Holy Spirit teach us? In what ways? Hebrews 8:10-11 states: "For this is the new covenant that I will make with the house of Israel: after those days," says the Lord , " I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts: and I will be their God,and they shall be my people. None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying "know The Lord, for all shall know Me,from the least of them to the greatest of them. He teaches through the reading, memorization and putting what we learn from the Holy Scriptures into practice. He also teaches us as we listen to gospel music, sermons preached by men and women of God and even reading of secular materials. He teaches us as watch both Christian and secular movies. The Holy Spirit prompts us, encourages, reveals hidden things to us, gives us the confidence and the faith to face all challenges in life. When does the Holy Spirit teach us? At all times and in all circumstances as He resides in us. What does He teach us? John 16:13 - ...he guides us into all the truth. The Bible say Jesus is the Truth. In John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, "I am the Way , the Truth and the Life..." In effect, the Holy Spirit teaches us about Jesus and all that He stands for. Ephesians 1:18-19 states " the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe..." The truth is that without the Holy Spirit we can do nothing!
I'm not sure if I have the full answer, but I think I understand part of it. This is my take. The Holy Spirit is God, the third part of the trinity. Being God, except in different form, I believe the Holy Spirit teaches us through same way we would traditionally believe that God teaches us. That is, through reading the Bible, prayer and teaching from others (preaching). This all leads to different forms of help and teaching... John 14:16 has two important parts about the Holy Spirit being our guide. That is, the Holy spirit will teach us and help us remember Jesus' teachings. John 14:16 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will TEACH you all things and bring to your REMEMBRANCE all that I have said to you. (Emphasis myn) The Holy Spirit will declare the truth of Jesus: John 16:12-15 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. He will encourage us: Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God The Holy Spirit also helps us through prayer: Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. I am sure there are many intangible ways that the Holy Spirit teaches us, and maybe others will have a better answer.
We are the U.S.S Enterprise from Star Trek. The BIBLE turns on the holy spirit. When we read the BIBLE we turn on the force field. The more you read the stronger the force field (Full power). when you stop reading the force field takes a hit the weaker you get the next thing Your force field is gone. Your spirit is dead.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13:6-7). Holy Spirit teaches us unconditional Love, Joy and Truth. I can not see the truth without the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit teaches us the lessons in the context of the human beings which we can follow and do it (John 1:14). Holy Spirit teaches the basic foundation of life's origin ( Jeremiah 1:5) and the destination(Jeremiah 29:11) through the scripture (2 Timothy 3:16) and the nature (Psalm 97:6). And moreover He teaches us and guides us for both spiritually and physically. (John 14:26).
Answer not in order When: There are two ways we can have communion with God. 1) Jesus said, No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him and I will raise him up the last day (John 6:44). Next verse says they we will be taught by God where we have heard (voice) and learned from the Father comes to me. This is an end time prophesy but also how God has always worked i.e. Noah was perfect (Gen 6:8-9 - listened to and obeyed God) and Abraham was blameless (Gen 17:1-27 (listened to and obeyed God). Today, listen to and obey God (Deuteronomy 28:1-14) to be blessed. 2) Jeremiah tells us that IF we seek God's plans (thoughts) for our lives that he will listen to us and answer us (Jeremiah 29:11-13). Most teachers leave out verses 12 & 13 but they are the most important since I must be like Caleb and have the different spirit to follow Him fully or whole-heartedly. What ways: In the beginning it's, as a carnal infant yet born-again believer (I Corinthians 3:1-3) I must rely on the conviction of the Holy Spirit, in which He may and can use the Ten Commandments as my tutor (Galatians 3:21-29). But the law does not bring life (V 21) so faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe (V 22). So when faith comes I am no longer under the tutor of the law. When faith comes I have been baptized into Christ (Romans 6:1-14) and Christ is formed in me (Galatians 4:19). I encourage you read and understand what Paul means here Galatians 3:21-4:31). He warns us that even if we are "born-again" and have everything a child (teknon - carnal baby) is no better than a slave. Thus Paul's statement in Gal 4:19, "My little children for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you." Paul was also there tutor because they were not mature enough to hear and follow Christ and were not mature in agape love. These two things refer to carnal Christians (not hearing God's voice clearly) being drawn or our seeking God. If I name the name of Christ I must depart from iniquity (II Timothy 2:19). What does he teach me. 1) To be a sheep who goes to the slaughter every day (Rom 8:36), 2) To give up my life every day to save my life (Luke 9:23-24). 3) Thus I am now a sheep that hears his voice and follows Him (John 10:27. 4) Being circumcised in my heart (Romans 2:28:29) He taught me to no longer be stiff-necked in following Him (Deuteronomy 10:16). 5) This process of being taught by man and God has done only what the Holy Spirit can do - produce the fruit of the Spirit by being baptized (crucified with Christ (Galatians 5:22-26) 6) This teaching process weaned me off the milk of the word (Bible and Bible teachers) as a carnal baby and now ready for the solid food a fully mature son (Greek - huios). 7) Now I understand to completely leave of my dead works (Hebrews 5:5-6:3) and walk perfect and blameless like Noah and Abraham just as Father wants me to be perfect (Matthew 5:5-48). Perfect what? Peace - Ephesians 4:1-3; walking worthy of the calling of Christ Love - Colossians 3:14-16; In this love you can now teach and admonish one another. Destiny - Ephesians 2:8-10; I am off milk and on solid food feed on the body and blood of Jesus - the manna from heaven (John 6:27-68). If you have been obeying Father's voice you were feeding on the manna. You are like Jesus that now you really now your predestined plan of God and purpose for being here (Matthew 4:3-4, John 4:34). Your food (voice of the Lord) is to do the will of God who sent you and finish His work. Thus you are saved by grace through faith like Abraham (Romans 2:25-4:25). This is true worship in Spirit and truth (John 4:23). Most Christians seek the revelation of the Bible. I teach the greatest revelation they need is for Father to reveal their destiny. This produces a truly intimate communion with the Father.
