Yes,He did. The Bible states that He preached to those in Hell prior to the first resurrection. And if He had not gone to hell, how could it be said that He bore the penalty for all of our sins. But the one point which must be made is that, because He was perfect, Hell could not hold Him. He broke the chains of Hell for all believers. So it is a wonder to me why anyone would reject Him.

Hell is Sheol/Hades. Which is the place of the unbelieving dead.
Hell is not the lake of fire.

I like the answer! I also agree, though before making this comment I did not consult the Greek and the text in context, but I still like the answer! In spite of whether we believe He went to Hell or Sheol, it will not change our "position" in Christ with God. So that said, I still like the answer.

What then is the difference between ""Paradise'' and '' Heaven''? Dose the saved receive judgement and therefore off to heaven from paradise whilst the lost await judgement in hades?. Iin hades do they suffer temporary torment? Thank you

For believers Second Corinthians 5:8 Paul says that when we are absent from the body, we are present with the Lord. Our body goes to the grave but our spirit/soul goes to heaven because it is the part of us that Jesus has made righteous. Our old nature and sinful bodies have to die because of sin. All have died since Adam because of sin.
When the Lord comes at the resurrection we will get our new spiritual bodies that are sinless that will be united with our spirit/soul.

When you say WHEN you are speaking in terms of time. After death the spirit leaves the human element of time, and it enters the realm of the Lords Kingdom, which is not bound by the chains of time, nor are there requirements to bow down to it. In other words, God is not looking at his wrist watch to determine when he can restore his children to perfection. The price was paid on the Cross, and all barriers removed long ago. Peter 3:18, "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God." 2 Peter 3:8 says, "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." So it seems fairly certain that God is not limited in time the way we are. We know that one can travel through space at great speeds for a day, and return back to Earth one day latter, all to find the Earth time lapse to be 1000 years. Time posses no barriers. Soon after death, the righteous enter the Kingdom of Heaven; however, the actual time on Earth could easily have lapsed several of thousands of years, The new spiritual body is waiting, because due to speed, and distance traveled, relative to Earth, time on Earth would have placed the actual Resurrection in the distant past.
