Let us first ask ourselves what or who is the church? If the church is made up of people who are called out, where and why were they called out. We know Jesus was the last Adam and it was made very clear that he was the "son of God". The first son of God was Adam, who lost his son- ship because of disobedience. The last Adam come to restore man back to son-ship. The scripture says, as many that have received him have become sons of God. The qualification to be received into sonship is "Repentance". It is my understanding that when man repents, he now thinks like "how God thinks". To be a son of God man has to live a righteous life doing the right thing. In all his decisions he does what the word says. It is my understanding that God created the first Adam in his image and likeness that he may portray heaven on earth. The first Adam was created to display the culture and nature of heaven on earth. The first Adam failed, the last Adam(Jesus Christ) has come to accomplish that which the first Adam failed to do. So as many that have received Jesus as their Lord have only one mission to portray the culture and nature of Heaven. The prayer of those who received Christ must be "let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The mission or the purpose of the church must be to accomplish Gods will on earth as it is in heaven. To be Gods express image like Jesus. That indeed is the purpose of the church.
Church - with reference to Christianity, collective physical and visible body of believers spiritually perceived as the body of Christ; local congregation or worldwide membership of professing Christians within a specific and established denomination Purpose of church - in the 'loose canon' form of one unqualified word: service; in a qualified and more meaningfully stated wording: service with a signature orientation of being God-pleasing, Christ-centered, and Spirit-led and featuring worship, fellowship, and discipleship as three essential forms of expression.
The Church has two purposes. First to seek the salvation of the lost (Matthew 28:19&20). Secondly, the Church is to grow and mature those saved persons to be what the Lord would have them to be (Ephesians 4:11-15)
