The only resolution that a Christian should make should concern His/her Creator. It should be for the Honor and Glory of God. My resolution is to follow the teachings of my Lord, Jesus Christ, to the best of my ability with the Helper, the Holy Spirit.
If you make a New Year's resolution to start reading your Bible everyday....DON’T JUST READ it. Study what you're reading. Go to different commentaries that will help you understand more fully the scriptures. Search the scriptures. I made this resolution at the first of this year and I’ve stuck to it and I’ve learned and grown so much doing it. Try not to put a time limit, like “Read through the Bible in one year”. I’m just now in the middle of Isaiah and I’m making notes like crazy on this book. So many prophecies of the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I look forward to my quieter early morning time with the Lord before everyone else gets up. Pray for understanding. 2 Timothy 2:15. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Our salvation is ours alone. The Bible is our guide. How can anyone know the way if they’ve never studied to understand. Listen to who is teaching you God’s word at a pulpit..then go home and search out what you heard to know if what they said is truth. Many a false teacher has led “multitudes” astray. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. There are many interpretations of the Scriptures. So, be careful in your study. Not all are true. Know that there IS an “absolute” truth. There is only one true way to heaven and that is through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call-- 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Look diligently for the absolute right way. Pray for guidance in the name of Jesus.
God has said in His word we are not to make a vow to the Lord we cannot keep. He will hold us to it. God has made a promise to us. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day. That is a promise of God to us. God keeps His promises. Men do not. It is better to make no vows to God than to make a vow and not keep it. The only vow we should make as believers is in marriage. Till death do us part. We have not kept that vow very well. Unbelievers may keep that vow better than believers do. So, God made a vow to us. Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house. God cannot lie. John 6;47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. Gods promise to us. John 10:28-29. And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
