I have consulted most of the mentioned Bibles, as well as, Holman used in our Sunday School class; however, I prefer the NASB (New American Standard Bible); it works with my Bible studies from Precept International. It appears, in comparison, closest to the KJV (King James Version), which I think is the truest Bible. There are some discrepancies (in my opinion, when compared) in the NIV (New International Version), so I no longer use this one for study.

A minister was asked to speak at a Church, and with the invite was requested to use "the proper bible" as the Church only used the original version.
So on the appointed morning he stands and declares how thrilled he was to find a church that thought that way. Then read from a Greek version!
A Translation is a translation. Whatever our personal preference, it is just that. Paul asked us to "let the Word of Christ dwell in you" (Col 3:16). This is nothing to do with memorising verses (whatever translation) but with that "place of being of being in Christ" where you know and hear Him (you're one of His sheep, after all!)
It's a place that will never contradict scripture, will be supported and encouraged by scripture and is alive in God!
Know your Bible. Get a good translation - but above every thing else on the planet, be in fellowship with the person of Jesus Christ!
