The "angel" that spoke to Joseph Smith and said that there was a new gospel and to ignore the Bible. This angel was actually the devil (or one of his heathens) speaking a new gospel. Remember, it was an "angel" that spoke to Eve and told her to partake of the fruit that God forbid them to. That 'angel' was a demon in disguise to trick/make sin Eve. The devil can appear as an angel, but really it is a demon in disguise. So maybe that is the lure, that Mormonism appears to be just like Christianity: a church that provides for the members in need. Also they appeal to be a family driven church. But the more a person gets into the cult, they find out how far from Christianity it really is.
