Rapper/Actor Will Smith wrote and sang a sitcom theme song about how he became the Fresh Prince of a town called Belair. Here's a line from it:

'I got in one little fight/ and my mom got scared/ she said you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Belair.'

That's what the average parent will do when trouble finds their child's school; they will bail! They will take their child out of that school. If the trouble comes to the community, we don't "pray about it" and seek guidance and all of that. WE RUN! And we do it quickly! We pray about it after we're safely away!

Why should it be looked at differently when the fighting is at the church?

I understand that there will be differences everywhere we go. Diplomacy is a worthwhile endeavor for us to accept and support. We learn to live in community when we learn to 'lose gracefully.' But when it calls for police to come to a church, when that's the environment, it's time to "move with your auntie and uncle in Belair."

That's one good reason; there's another.

I've seen pastors lose it. His "fastball" ain't there no mo!! But he still wants to pitch !! And the team starts looking around at each other. IT HAPPENS!! Some people are living in tough situations at home and need a church to be a refuge that gives them some much-needed relief. They need a GOOD WORD from the Lord! They don't have the luxury of waiting for the smoke to clear!
