When do we use the word great. Who is a great? By such, we would be able to tell how greater Jesus is than anybody else who has ever lived. The word “great” could be used in one of the following circumstances: 1. Unusually or comparatively large in size or dimensions. 2. Large in number; numerous. 3. Unusual or considerable in degree, power, intensity. 4. Wonderful; first-rate; very good. 5. Being such in an extreme or notable degree. I believe the following parameters will go some way in helping us to tell whether Jesus the CHRIST was greater than anybody who has ever/will ever live. 1. Lasting Impact both spiritual and physical 2. Mean what you say 3. The ability to be focused and remain so. 4. The interest in which you are acting. 5. The ability to be exemplary. Lasting impact Jesus left us a lasting impact in ways that can’t be matched by whoever it may be. His humility in the process of crucifixion is far reaching both in people’s minds and geographical cover. Jesus had all possessions and the ability to act whichever way. Such was never the force behind His energies. He wrapped up His work with victory. Jesus was about everybody the rich and the poor, the well to do and the outcasts. Those condemned by society were equally dear to Him (Luke 7:36-50) (John 8:1-11). Jesus did all for everybody, irrespective of who they were/are. Jesus forgave in very hard times (Luke 23:34). None else would have easily gone down without firing back a shot. Jesus served instead of being served (John 13:1-17). He did what is so impossible for so many to do. Even when we can do it, it is entirely because He did it first. Mean what you say Jesus was/is a good talker much as He was/is a good doer. He always followed His talk with more action. He always spoke of His death (John 15:13) for the salvation of many, He indeed did fulfill it on the cross at Calvary (Matthew 27:32-56) (John 19). He did what He said. Jesus preached to us not to sin, neither did He (John 8:46). Jesus is indeed greater than whomever. The ability to be focused and remain so. Jesus was always focused. On many occasions, He was provoked to act to the contrary of what He believed and said but He remained focused (Matthew 16:22-23). He never gave up to the end, to the very end of accomplishing the task, to save a soul. It required a shameful death; He was never swayed by anything (Philippians 2:8). He did it. Jesus rose from the dead, He is alive, 2000 years now, and He is alive. The interest in which you are acting. Jesus acted in the interest of others. His willingness to selflessly go ahead of us no matter what it took goes much further to give a true picture of Him as a great man who has ever lived. He did all not because it benefited Him, it was simply for the salvation of the human race. This is clearly evident in how He was crucified (John 15:13). When He was expected to curse, He blessed (Luke 23:34). He never minded about what they had done to Him, He minded about saving their souls. His character has never, and will never be matched by whoever has lived. In a nutshell, nobody is ever in any position to match the greatness of Jesus. He touched every bit of life. In His form as a human being, He acted exceptionally exemplary. He made us believe that in Him, all is possible. He made us understand that our fleshy bodies can be tamed to the glory of God. In His divine form, He did more than can meet the eye. Jesus touched us both physically and spiritually. He walked on the water, He raised the dead, He controlled the winds; Jesus defied all the laws of nature. Above all, we do have the hope of life after death because of Him. None else has ever done that. Jesus the CHRIST is the greatest of the greatest ever.
Jesus is the only being that came to earth and remained focused on the task that was set before him. Jesus made right all of the wrongs and missteps that the other great prophets, teachers and leaders failed because of various shortcomings, by dying on a cross (mind you he was tempted on all levels just like us) Hebrews 4:15 he took away all sickness and disease so if you can believe in his healing power or via Doctor you can be healed. He took away all poverty (2 Corinthians 8:9) so that we could become rich if a person desire. And then to put the icing on the cake he reconciled the relationship between man and God that was disrupted by Adams disobedience. Lastly he is the only being that you can have as much or little of and yet he has enough love to give to whomever else that wants it and not affected your love or relationship with him. Can you name a person living or dead that can match that resume?
