I think they are all needed at all times. It is my experience that happy or Rich people ( this is not about money but the richness of life) have faith, hope and love with enough of each. Poor or sad people seem to lack one or more of faith, hope and love. Jesus taught us to love our neighbour, he also told us in the Good Samaritan that everyone is our neighbour. He told us that love is patient, kind and never stops. To live a life that does that like Jesus said we need faith that it will work and hope that our actions will be seen as love by those we try to help. I try my hardest to live such a life as I have faith that if we all did this that the world would be a safer and happier place full of faith, hope and love.

There is no question that all three parts of this divine trio--faith, hope and love--are necessary to the Christians faith. However, in 1 Corinthians 13, Paul goes to great lengths to explain the superiority of love: Verses 1-3: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Verse 13: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Of course, when it comes to the question of being a Christian, faith is absolutely necessary; however, I would assert that it's who God is--His character of love--that first draws a person to Him and opens the door to faith, and also gives us hope. So, it's kind of a many-faceted proposition, not easily answered in a cut-and-dry fashion. But since Paul states in 1 Corinthians 13 that love is the greatest of all, I concur with Paul.
