Apathy: indifference, lack of interest, unconcern, lethargy. In a word..."meh". The Bible is full of verses that frown upon apathy. Revelation 3:16 "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." Proverbs 15:19. "The way of a sluggardly is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway." I'm reminded of the song lyric by Aaron Tippin, "You gotta stand for something, or you'll fall for anything." So true. Apathy is a foothold of the devil. We are very vulnerable to his attacks when we are full of apathy. Ephesians 6:10-12, King James Version (KJV) is right on about the need to be strong in Christ: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. A spirit of apathy is open season for satan. A spirit of strength protects us from satan's attacks.
