Ge 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Ge 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Ge 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. It speaks about the tree of life which was in the Garden of Eden. Now when we read in the last book of the Bible again we read about the tree of life. Re 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Re 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Re 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Re 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. {out of the book...: or, from the tree of life}(KJV) So by this we are sure that the Garden of Eden is not on this earth but in Heaven.
Genesis 3:24 So [God] drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the Garden of Eden the cherubim and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep and guard the way to the tree of life. [Revelation 2:7; 22:2, 14,19] Amplified Bible. A great deal of detail and nuance in this one verse that describes the amazing protection of the tree of life. 1. God drove man out. Man didn't leave of his own volition. 2. It first says that the cherubim and the sword stood guard. He was not holding it, but they stood together in their assigned task. 3. The flaming sword is interesting as well. We have the Holy Spirit appearing as flames in Acts 2, and we have the Word as a sword Hebrews 4:12, and we have cherubim guarding the mercy seat Exodus 25:18-21 4. The Garden was not what needed 'protection', but the tree of life. 5. The tree does indeed continue to exist. Revelation references. 6. The topography of the entire planet was changed in the flood. [Noah] The summation of the revealed facts here are that the Garden housed the tree of life, the tree of life will always exist, God Himself protects the tree and the Garden of Eden no longer exists as the tree is eternal and will eternally be in heaven. The earth was changed by the flood and the topography altered to prevent man from ever gaining eternal life any other way than through the saving grace of Yeshua Messiah.
