They should respond the same way they would respond if their child came out as a republican, or a democrat, or Yankees fan or left-handed. Love. Acceptance. Compassion. They are your child. They are a child of God. The primary ridicule leveled at Jesus was His willingness to join, dine, engage with everyone. Especially the least desirable of society.
