Why did Jesus tell Peter to 'feed my sheep' in John 21?

John 21:1 - 25

ESV - 1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.

Because Jesus knows well, what kind of faith Peter has: a questionable faith (Mark 14:27-31; John 18: 15-18; 25-27); and Jesus also knows well what kind of faith we have as a believers and followers of him.

We are all God's sheep (Psalm 100: 3), as Jesus told Peter to"feed my sheep", means "If you love me, you will obey what I command"(John 14:15).

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:34).

There are some theologians who hold that Our Lord Jesus made Peter to confess THRICE his love for Him as Peter denied Him THRICE.(Mt 26: 69 70, 72 &, 74, Mk 14: 68, 69 & 72, Lk: 22: 57, 58 &60 & Jn 18; 17,& 25 and also Jn 21 15-19) The caption "Jesus reinstates Peter" is given to the text Jn 21:: 15-25 in some editions of the Holy Bible

If this is the position, Jesus would have said "HMM" when Peter declared his love for Him for the first time, the same response would have been there when Peter expressed his love for Him for the second time and when Peter declared his love for Him for the third time and then only Jesus would have bestowed upon Peter the responsibility to feed/ tend / pasture His sheep.

It is very difficult to believe that our Lord spoke to Peter and other apostles in Greek...The words of Jesus found in the Bible Thalitha cumi (Mk 5:41) Ephphatha (Mk 7:34) and Eloi, Eloi. Lema sabachthani (Mk.15:34) as also the name Messiah in Jn 1:42 and Cephas in Jn.1.. 42.would show that Jesus spoke in Aramaic The name Christ is the translation of "Messiah"The name Peter is obtained by translating Cephas. Nobody has renamed Saul with the name Paul.

My point is that the three entrustments are different and one has to examine the Bible in the West Syriac which is the present form of Aramaic.to find out what they are

I have to submit that the first entrustment was to tender / feed / pasture the lambs, second the ewes and the third the entire sheep.of our Lord Jesus. [email protected].
