How do I know that I can physically heal people?
Although this is a rare gift, I often feel the urge to heal people in the name of Christ. Once at church, I noticed a man who had difficulty standing, and I nearly ended up crying, with my soul saying "Oh Lord! If you can hear me (which I knew He could) then please heal this man?" EDIT: Last night, I had a dream where I healed someone. I said "In the name of Jesus," and the person was healed. I was about to say "In the name of Jesus, I pray that you may be healed." What does this mean?

It's not rocket science. Jesus said that these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover(among other things). Healing the sick is part of the great commission
Jesus gave to believers. If you
are a believer just begin doing
what the Word says and God will
work with you just like He worked
with Jesus. AMEN.

Some believers have been given the gift of healing, by the Spirit of God. However, Jesus said that the signs shall follow them that believe. if you're a believer signs should be following you if you really believe God's Word. AMEN.

Paul said do all prophecy, do all speak with tongues and the answer was no. I also used to think those signs would follow those who believe, (believers) but on day the Holy Spirit showed me those sign will only follow those who believe they can lay hands on the sick and they'll recover etc. If we don't believe we can get saved we won't, if we don't believe we can heal the sick, we won't. The problem I have is the "it must not be Gods will people" or the others that say its not for today etc. We need to be teaching what the word says and not speculating from the pulpit or regurgitating what someone else said and read our bibles. You said a whole mouthful Linda, keep on believing on!! :)

You clearly have the spiritual gift of healing. I have the gift of evangelism and miracles. I have dreams about witnessing to people like you do. God has done real miracles that I wasn't asking for. Why? Because Jesus did miracles to tell people He was God in the Messiah.
These gifts are increasing as we are in the end times and also have the opportunity with technology to glorify God with telling His marvelous works. Psalm 9.
I just came back from a healing ministry week in Thomaston Ga. You can learn a lot from them because they have a purely biblical knowledge and practice of the gift of healing. There is a book of testimonies and teaching full of Scriptures called Be In Health. There is a website of testimonies at www.iamchanged.com. And resources to teach you about your gift are at www.beinhealth.com. They are very humble and not making any grandiose claims. They take no credit for healings. God is the author of Creation and of every life on earth. They teach the truth that our battle is a spiritual battle and that there is a spiritual root to many diseases.
We are mind, body and spirit. When we are born again of the Holy Spirit, He chooses which gift or gifts we are given to use for His purposes. We are not our own, but have been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ. I remind people who try to discourage me about my gifts and myself who has thoughts of giving up like Elijah that I am having a complaining spirit to my Father, the Potter. I as Him to mold me and make me after His will.
Be encouraged. Learn about your gift. Walk by the Spirit and let Him do the work.

I have seen miracles and then I have seen one die after praying for them.
However the Word of God says:
James 5:14-16 Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
I have seen more recover than not and for those who died.
The Word of God says:
Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
2 Corinthians 5:7-8 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Of coarse this is Our hope for the Believer and Our expected end; Therefore We Are Healed.
Only God knows the time each one of us have on Earth. He chooses if to extend it any longer and if He does it will be for His will and purpose and not our own. Like Jesus said; not my will Father but Yours be done. Physical Healing is truly a gift.
Jesus chose to take our blame and suffer the consequence to death, so we may have life in Christ and more abundant living. Amen?

I have prayed for at least two people that have died and yet I still continue to pray for the sick and believe God for healing. I have also prayed for many more people of which God has either healed on the spot or healed later. In Mark 16:17 it tells us the signs that follow the people who believe the signs will follow.
All of the 9 spiritual gifts only operate by faith and as the Spirit wills. Though this does not mean that healing will ever come but may come later in ones life as I have personally experienced. Any born again believer can operate in any of the 9 Spiritual gifts but the problem is many have either never been taught what I am saying or they just don't believe. It is a shame with all the people in this world who need healing.

sick person the Word first, then
anoint with oil and lay your
hands on them. JESUS said that

Linda I would say that believers possess all the gifts of the Spirit only because they are gifts of the spirit and the Holy Spirit indwells us. So the gifts are there. Our problem is we don't believe we can use them. My daughter when she was 5 operated in the Gifts of Healings and grew out a lady's leg. You are correct in we usually see the gifts of healings and working of miracles in an evangelist. Though I am not one, I have operated in a couple of the gifts at different times but only because I believe I can and wait for the unction of the Holy Spirit. I truly believe that believers are not being taught the word nor encouraged to do mighty works in this world. That is why many Christians are not in church today and just church hopping and not seeing the power and presence of God.
