To answer Norb Smurawa who asked a question that was merged with this one, --> Why did the king throw out the wedding guest who was not wearing wedding clothes?

(Question: What is the meaning of the Parable of the Wedding Feast?

The king threw out the wedding guest who was not wearing wedding clothes because the man chose to bypass the king's specific, personal provision (Matthew 22:11). In ancient near-eastern custom, a wealthy host or king would provide clean, custom robes at the door for all attendees so that everyone mingled as equals regardless of their social rank. By refusing the king's provided robe and insisting on wearing his own ordinary clothes, the guest was showing extreme disrespect, arrogance, and open rebellion against the host. In biblical symbolism, this provided wedding garment represents the spotless robe of Christ's righteousness (Isaiah 61:10). The king cast the man out because he tried to gain entrance relying on his own clothes, illustrating how a person trying to get into heaven based on their own good works, self-righteousness, or moral efforts is completely unacceptable to God (Titus 3:5). When questioned, the man was speechless (Matthew 22:12) because he had no valid excuse for refusing the free robe, leading to his judgment in the outer darkness (Matthew 22:13).
