Why do believers still sin? Ephesians 4:22

Ephesians 4:22 in the New International Version (NIV) reads: "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;"

Christians are new creatures in Christ (Gal. 2:20; 2 Cor. 5:17), aren't they?

Ephesians 4:1 - 32

ESV - 1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called. 2 With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
