Do Christian women have to submit to men or just their husbands?

Just wondering if women are called to submit to men,men in the church or their husbands only as some prominent bible teachers seem to believe that the former is the case. I believe this to be erroneous but can't seem to back it up scripturally.

My wife Faye isn't under any obligation to submit to me! I claim to love Faye more than I love myself. If it isn't true I can't tell, and neither can anyone else who knows us personally, so they all say. They say the same about her concerning me! We've taken care of each other for close to half a century. (48 years, I say it that way to make it sound more dramatic and special. I'm all prayed up about my arrogance, but I need more prayer! LOL

If I need a pet to lord it over I'll go to a pet shop and ask about one. When it comes to people, I'm not the kind to which someone should freely submit.

Now: In my household it's vividly clear who "THE MAN" is. With an ego as big as mine I don't think anyone could get it confused. I had this enormous ego as a boy growing up, it has nothing to do with getting married. Faye saw it and liked it. Her brother, my BIL told me when we were teenagers it was what she liked about me. (He said I had "an edge").

So I believe she submits to an ego that she wants to encourage.

That's what I believe the point to be that Paul wants to make. I think he wants the wife to appreciate the responsibility the husband has, and he wants the husband to appreciate the responsibility the wife has. I don't think either of those responsibilities exceed the other. I like my role, and I believe Faye likes hers. Of course, a body can afford only one head. But a head without a body depicts a decapitation. Not good!!
