The Bible says that Amnon became obsessed with Tamar, and she was said to be beautiful like her brother, Absalom. But he did not control his infatuation with her, as he should have. He was just like his father David who did not control his infatuation with another man's wife, Bathsheba. I will add this thought from 2 Samuel -13:21-22 "King David heard the whole story and was enraged, but he didn’t discipline Amnon. David doted on him because he was his firstborn." Just think. Couldn't this whole matter of treachery and murder have been avoided if David had just disciplined his son for rape?
