We can pray to God and to Jesus. In Luke 11:2-4 and Matthew 6 Jesus teaches us to pray to the Father. In John 14:14 Jesus tells us whatever we ask Him, in his name, he will do it. The majority of New Testament references to prayer are to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ.

As to the specific name you use for God, YHWH or Yahweh or Jehovah or Heavenly Father or I AM or God or the LORD (as most English Bibles translate the Old Testament name for God), I do not believe that matters. There is only one God. If you recognise him as the only God, the Creator and your Father, and pray sincerely from your heart, in the name of Jesus, he will hear you.

Likewise, the names Yeshua and Yeshu and Jesus and Yesu and Jezus and uJesu are all just different forms of the same name in different languages. There is only one Jesus Christ, the son of God, the Savior, the Messiah. Your home language and the exact name or pronunciation you use is not an obstacle to God, don't let it be an obstacle to you. God understands all languages! What matters more than how you address your prayers is that you pray, and that your prayers are sincere, from the heart, with humility. Not for show, not to impress God or others, not manipulative or boastful. See also Mat 6:6-15.

Yeshua (Jesus) came to show us the way and when He taught the disciples how to pray He addressed His prayer to the Father (YHWH, YHVH, GOD)--"Our Father, who hart in heaven".

Secondly Yeshua said, "I am the door" (John 10). V.1 Yeshua (Jesus) said "He who does not enter the sheepfold by the door--the same is a thief and a robber". V.9 "If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture". Yeshua is also our Cohen Hagadol (High Priest) who is presently making intercessions to the Father on our behalf.

In the Old Testament times the people would go to the High Priest for him to approach the Holy of Holies and speak to God on their behalf. With Yeshua having given up His life for us, He is The Door, our Good Shepherd and our High Priest; He has made it possible for us to enter the Holy of Holies or the throne room of God through prayer. We need, however, to enter through a door and that door is Yeshua. We therefore need to pray to YHWH in the name of Yeshua (Jesus); for example:- Father in Heaven, I present myself before you in the name of Yeshua.

Jesus accepted prayers as in:
John 14:14
If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
But also in John 16.23 we are tought that we can ask the Father through Jesus name.
John 16.23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

Should I pray to YHWH or Yeshua? My answer will be short and to the point. When I pray my prayers go to the spiritual realm. I am a sinner and my prayers are intercepted by Yeshua, who is YHWH on earth. Yeshua told us that what ever we ask in His name He would do. I pray to YHWH in the name of Yeshua.
