Why does the Catholic Catechism omit commandment #2 (You shall not make idols) and split #10 (You shall not covet your neighbor's belongings) into two, making them #9 and #10?

Only the facts please!
If you look around a Catholic church you will see all kinds of graven images and idols. I am sure there are other churches that do this as well. The bible is very clear about how we treat the word of GOD.
Rev 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Only the facts please.

If you look around an Orthodox Church or a Lutheran church, you will see icons too. People often try to target the Catholics, yet keep one eye closed for the other religions.

Please re-read my comment. I said: " I am sure there are other churches that do this as well". My eyes are always wide open when it comes to God's Word. Thank you for your comment and remember, "Only the facts please"!

You've all heard the saying,"can't see the forest for the trees." Which means the forest is there, but you can't see it because the trees are in the way. The same goes for this topic. A lot of people put "things", albeit "good" things, ahead of God. For example, when God had Moses make a snake on a pole so that anyone who looked at it was saved from death from snake bites, the people looked to the snake on a pole to save them instead of God who actually did the saving. Which is why later in scripture, you read that a later, Godly king, destroyed it because people worshipped it instead of God. Yes God uses things, but it's God, not the thing that is to be praised. The 2nd commandment says that NO idol is to be praised. Not even if it's of something from heaven. When Jesus cured the blind man by spitting in mud and having him wash in the fountain, it's like most people would scoop up the mud Jesus used and bottle the water from the fountain as if the mud or the water had anything to do with it. What cured the man was Jesus. Not the mud or water.

I’m answering in reference to the Catholic and Presbyterian ways of adding or splitting the Ten Commandments.

God specifically gave Noah what HE wanted to be said. The exact wording in the exact sequence. If He wanted it changed in any shape form or way He would have done so by sending another another set of Commandments to Noah with His changes.
With respect I feel it isnt for us to change anything God has done or said. It is His domain. He created the Universe. He created us and made us so intricate that no one could or will ever be able to duplicate God’s work. In anything He has done! He has His ways of doing things just as we have been given the free will to do things our way. As we don’t like for people to change things around for us that we have done....nor does God with His SUPREME WORD.

The Ten Commandments were breathed from God and they are to be left alone and are for us to live and abide by them. Not to add or split because one denomination feels that it’s much better arranged their way.
