This is because no one up to this point had been risen from the dead after being dead for four days.
Also this was demonstrating the power and authority of our lord Jesus Christ.
This was demonstrating to the jews and everybody else in the world that Jesus Christ, like he said so himself, was the giver and taker of life.
My question centered on the fact that Matthew, Mark and Luke don't mention it - I wonder why - since it is the most astounding miracle Jesus performed - you would expect them to recount it!
In John we have people being healed from being blind to not being able to walk. There's more at play when Jesus receives word about his friend Lazarus about to die. He (Jesus) could just said a word.
