Why did James warn that "not many should become teachers" when Paul tells us to "covet the better gifts"?

1 Corinthians 12:29-31 Teaching is third among the list of gifts, and so should be one of the 'greater gifts'.

James 3:1

ESV - ¹ Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
