What helps me are the plans offered in the Bible apps. There are lots of free Bible apps available for mobile phone or tablet. I have two such apps and both offer numerous reading plans and they'll even remind you to read every day, if you so choose! The plans aren't overwhelming and really help keep me on a good daily reading track!

Curiosity about Christ and who he was motivated me. Wanting to know Christ motivated me. The more I read of the word, the more I thirst after him. Realizing my own changed heart and mind as I got to know Christ kept me going after him, and now knowing the word is my air that I breathe, my comfort, my hope, corrector, counselor, and a part of what I need to complete my assignment, the word is everything to me, in it I find Christ, along with prayer.

If you are struggling to get started, pray for strength, ask others to pray on your behalf. Take baby steps, whatever you do please do not beat yourself up for not committing yourself, keep trying and God will help those who seek after him. Another suggestion, find a specific time during the day, preferably the first part of your day (first fruits) someone once told me, and set that time for quiet time with our Father! It makes a world of difference in your day and whole life!
