Psalm 27 is a Psalm of David. In verse 4 he says, "One thing I have desired of the Lord, That I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life." This is a Psalm of faith. David was still on this earth. He continues in verse 5, For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle..." Moving on to Psalm 31:20, "You shall hide them in the secret place of your presence..." This is a statement of trust, David precedes this by saying how great is God's goodness. God is good to all who respect Him. I believe the secret place is His intimate personal relationship with all who love Him. Psalm 32:7, "You are my hiding place..." A hiding place is a secret place. Psalm 9:9, "The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble." When I have troubles, I just want to curl up and be with My Lord in secret. Psalm 46, a Psalm of the sons of Korah, verse 1, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Verse 2, "Therefore we will not fear.." The Lord comforts us. John 15:19, " If you were of the world, the world would love it's own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." I have to agree, sometimes I feel like I live on another planet! John 17:16, Jesus said, "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." This is Jesus praying for his disciples. I think that trying to follow The Lord Jesus Christ qualifies as being a disciple. No wonder I don't fit! John 17:20-22, "I do not pray for these alone, (Jesus disciples) but ALSO for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in US, that the world may believe that you sent Me." Psalm 91:16, "With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." In Hebrew the word salvation is Yeshua. Yeshua is Jesus. Praise Lord Jesus for praying this for all believers! My God's heart and Spirit are His secret place, that He shares with His beloved.
In my humble opinion this secret place of dwelling with God was under the Jewish prayer shawl which is a garment, carried everywhere and called a tallit sometimes spelled tallith also sometimes referred to or translated as tent. The tallit itself is a white rectangular piece of fabric. The four corners are also known as wings, on these corners of the tallit there are hanging threads with a single blue thread with very special knots called tassels (tzitzit) used to remember and count the commandments. Numbers 15:39 They were worn by Jewish men after their Bar Mitzvah 13th birthday, prior to their exile and dispersion from the land of Israel, they were worn daily and when raised completely over their head, they enter their private prayer closet. Psalm 91 Is God's complete protection plan for His people when they abide with Him and today for all believers that protection is through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 16:13 Consider the faith of standing in the ancient world with one's head covered praying or even today in crime free Chicago for that matter. God will honor His promises and no enemy or weapon formed will harm you and that my friend you can take to the bank. In the Lord's freedom and protection always.................warrior on
I heard in an interview on TV that the "secret place of The Most High" is the very essence of God. The very essence of God is Love....so to paraphrase would sound like this: He who dwells in Love shall abide under The shadow of The Almighty. In other words, The Good Lord will hide us from the enemy if we are dwelling in love. The moment we are NOT operating in love (1 Cor 13), we appear on the radar screen and the enemy can see us and is able to attack or expose us. Pray about it to see whether God will validate.
Psalm 91:1: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Mankind was put out of the Garden of Eden to till the ground, eat the fruits of their own hands, and discern good and evil on their own after eating from the Tree of Life. The Serpent who came to devour them of good and evil wanted them to make them wise in their own flesh, leading them to sin just as the birds of the air, the wicked ones devouring the seed that is being sowed in a church. (Mat 13:4/1 Cor 3:17) For we have many unclean and hated birds of the air that have come into mankind and have devoured the unclean spirit and imprisoned every unclean and hated bird in a cage. (Rev 18:2) Abraham, not wanting strife between himself and Lot, let him go on his own. If one does not dwell in the secret place of the most high and live under the shadow of the Almighty, then it will lead one to be devoured. Lot’s choice, wanting to dwell among the people of Sodom, lifting his eyes, chose for himself a place well-watered, but the people who lived there were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly. Being a righteous man, seeing and hearing their unlawful deeds vexed his righteous soul day to day, (2 Pet 2:8) and being distressed by the choice he made in the flesh, the Lord sent His angels to rescue him and his family to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Abraham dwelt in the secret place of the most high, who revealed Himself to him and gave him dreams and visions, leading him to make the right decisions and bear the fruits of wisdom. Thus, he moved and came and dwelt in the plains of Mam-re and built an altar to the Lord. (Gen 13:18) If one tends to hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord and discern only the good and not the evil, this will lead one to “humbleness” which is the Lord’s blessings in thy “Store House” (Deut 28:1-9) and this will lead one to dwell in the secret place of the most high. Psalm 91:15: He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
