Not meditating on the word of God makes on to drift away (Joshua 1:8)
Equally looking at Hebrews 3:10-15.the bible says that see to it tha none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God but encourage one another daily...none of you will be hardened by sin's deceitfulness .This implies that failure by Christians to encourage one another could also contribute to the drifting away of fellow brethren
A person who has accepted Christ as the only way of salvation, receives the spirit of God with in their spirit and they are made complete in Him who saves us by grace. Ephesians 1:13. How long does the spirit stay with us.? Forever. We are born in to the family of God by the spirit of God that says He will never leave us or forsake us. It is impossible to lose what Christ has done. John 6:37-40.
Many Christians go through dry places where they may be in the valley, but God who is faith full will never leave us. He is not like us or our earthly fathers, but completely faithful and can not leave a person whose spirit has been made alive by His spirit.
Once we become a child of God through the new birth it is eternal. We can go off and live in sin, and if we do not change God will chasten us to bring us back into fellowship with Himself, but He will never leave us. If we stay in really bad sin for a long period of time, He may take us out of the world as we become useless to Him. But our salvation is never in question.
First Corinthians 5:5 is about a brother that was living in incest. Paul said if he did not change he was going to turn him over to Satan to kill his body so that his spirit would be saved in the day of the Lord.
When we accepted Christ as our savior, we receive the free gift of the Holy Spirit of promise, the righteousness of Christ, and our sins can no longer be imputed to us. It is eternal life. John 3:16, Romans 4:1-8. Our spirit was dead, but made alive unto God by faith alone. Romans 4:5 God is faithful even when we are not faithful, and He is our righteousness before God.
Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that salvation is a gift from God. Romans 4;5 tell us it is without works which we have done. We can not be saved by our own works or our own righteousness. But we receive those by God when we trust His finished work on the cross to save us by grace.
Galatians 1:8-9 tells us that any one who says that salvation is not by all grace is preaching another gospel and will be accursed. He said it twice.
Jesus paid our sin debt in full so that we are saved by His life, death, and resurrection. We are saved when we first believed the gospel of our salvation which is complete in Him who saved us by grace. None of us are sinless. First John 1:8 But we are not to use grace for a license to sin.
But when we sin, grace abounds. Gods grace is greater than all our sin. First John 5:13 says God wants us to know we have eternal life and that we can never be cast away because He loved us before the foundation of the world.
