Who says Vhristians are always arguing. I think it's more along the lines that PEOPLE are arguing.
This is a very interesting topic considering that in the Catholic expression of the Christian faith, this week is the one where everyone is supposed to pray for "Christian Unity" and prayer groups involving evangelicals is encouraged.
I grew up as a daughter of Evangelical Christian ministers and so from early childhood on, I was exposed to theology discussions since that's what we all talked about at the dinner table.
My Mom was (and still remains so) the most "argumentative" about certain dogmatic points, and both my minister parents veer towards party lines (meaning, denominational skewing of viewpoints on certain scriptures) but I myself try to always think of "what would Jesus say" and "what would Jesus do?"
Because really, it comes down to that.
So arguing? I think we can still argue, but with a mutual understanding that we all have splinters in our own eyes, and we're all human, and thus fallible.
But to call people "unsaved" is far beyond our privilege. I think we can say "you're wrong" but to decide someone is unsaved is really not our decision... leave it up to Sovereign God and call it a mystery at best.
Though we do not want to argue as believers and understand we are in sin when we do; we will never get completely away from this sin thanks to Adam and Eve. When God chastised them for eating from the tree of life he cursed Eve He said to her" Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you". That is the basis of all arguing I believe and we must fight the desires of the flesh to honor and respect others
Can two walk together without being in agreement?
What does a Sabbath (commandment) keeper have in common with a sunday worshiper. The Sabbath keeper believes that the law of God is and has always existed and does their best to keep them all, and repents of breaking those laws.
The rest say that the law of God has been done away with, which is nonsense when you read scripture. 1 John 3:4 says that "sin is the transgression of the law"...without God's law there is no sin because sin is breaking God's laws.
Why would "christians" be less likely to "argue" than others? I think "arguing" is appropriate when truth and error are cross-breeded. But that's just my opinion, which is arguably a pretty good guess.
Now here's another question: Are loaded questions good for the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ? If they are, should "christians" ask them or should they be designed by others?
